Mrs. Sue Gillick, RN CSN
Hand washing is the number one prevention for infection. It is imperative that everyone be diligent in this procedure. Coughing into your sleeve and not your hand is another great prevention tool. Both of these techniques are strongly encouraged at Monmouth Beach School. If students are ill, parents should keep them home to prevent the spread of any infection and consult your pediatrician. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends a flu shot during this flu season. All the above are promoted at our school by myself and the staff in an effort to help fight the spread of any type of infection. Please call the nurse’s office when a student is absent and state the reason for such absence. If multiple students are absent with the same diagnosis, Mr. Ettore, the County Health Department and parents will be informed.Encouraging good health and good hygiene at home as well as in school can prevent any disease from taking hold. An excellent website to obtain up to date information on the Enterovirus D-68 is http://www.nj.gov/health/cd/ev-d60/index.shtml.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION.
