Child Study Team

  •  Welcome to the Special Services Department!
The primary responsibility of the Special Services Department is to assure the provision of a free and appropriate education in the least restrictive environment to children with a disability.

The Child Study Team (CST) consists of the Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultant, School Psychologist, School Social Worker and when applicable, a specialist in the area of Speech/Language, Occupational Therapy or Physical Therapy. The team will discuss if an evaluation is necessary and determine the nature and scope of the evaluation. Typically, the parent must provide written consent for any evaluation to proceed. These discussions and decisions occur at a Planning Meeting.  Once the evaluation process is complete, an Eligibility meeting is held. If evaluations have revealed that a student has a disability and is eligible for special education and/or related services, an Individualized Educational Program (IEP) will be developed. This usually occurs at the IEP meeting, held immediately following the Eligibility meeting. The IEP team consists of the Case Manager (a member of the CST) Parent, and Teachers. The IEP will be reviewed annually and reevaluated every three years.
